On Saturday, the 30th of August 2025, Azanian Ground Force (AGF) was officially launched in, Hunterfields Stadium, Katlehong.
The party’s President, Lethlogonolo Moseki, now based in Germiston has a strong history in politics. Born in North West, Moseki was recruited by the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) after he contributed towards the downfall of the Baphuthatswana Homeland after he completed his matric in 1999, permanently residing in Germiston, and continued his activism in the ANC politics. Moseki then served ward 36 in Germiston as Deputy Chairperson to Collen Malatji, who is chaired as the president of the ANCYL. Later, the now president of AGF joined forces with Herman Mashaba, who holds the position of being a president of the political party, ActionSA, in establishing the party spoken of in Ekurhuleni. This resulted Moseki in becoming the first mayoral candidate of ActionSA during 2021 local government elections and subsequently the first Caucus Leader and MMC for Public Safety in the City of Ekurhuleni until his departure in 2023 due to personal and political differences with the party leadership.
“The formation of this Party was, in fact, prompted by the persuasion of numerous voiceless South Africans who felt that my departure from politics was I’ll-timed and a betrayal, given their perception that I was ardently advocating for their interests, especially at the local government level. Amongst these voices are Lesotho-born residents residing permanently in South Africa who approached me, seeking assistance with compliance matters and urging the Department of Home Affairs to provide assistance as they had tried everything in the book to be compliant with the laws of this country but were not getting joy from the department.
Security guards and cleaners also approached me and their plea was that the AGF ensure that their services become full-time services, thus requiring “insourcing” instead of contract work, which is a widespread issue in South Africa impacting both public and private sectors,” added the president.
Considering the large number of political parties in South Africa, the AGF attests that it is not essential for a political party to govern single handedly. It encourages that parties should form a coalition and a government with clear constituencies. The AGF’s aim and position is clear and unwavering on upholding the Rule of Law and ensuring community safety at large. The party’s focus is to also occupy such space and advocate for sufficient resource support in law enforcement, insourcing and vetting of those entrusted security services of the country, and adequate support for Street Patrollers, CPFs, scholar patrols, and the overall South African community safety.
In conclusion, the AFG’s goal is to ultimately contest elections at both the provincial and national levels in 2029. However, for the upcoming local government election, the party plans to contest municipalities solely within the Gauteng Province.
