Students at Nageng primary school receive sanitary products

A Non-profit organisation called Thuthuthuka Evolved Self-Health group which was formed to tackle the social ills that continue to affect communities in Vosloorus donated sanitary products to students at Nageng primary school on the 2nd day of the Heritage month (September).

They gave student sanitary towels, toothpastes, toothbrushes, bathing soaps, roll-ons and body lotions and within the donation drive, the members of the Non-profit organisation took turns to engage with the learners encouraging them to focus on their school tenure and to stay away from life defiling activities.

The Deputy Chairperson of the organisation Mahadi Miya vividly outlined, stating as follows, “We came here to enlighten learners so they can live a good life and avoid life degrading activities, like substance abuse, bullying, early childhood sexual intercourse that leads to teenage pregnancy and any form of criminality. We want to empower their mental capacity so they can be good decision makers who uphold self-love, “said Miya.

The Chairperson of the organisation Nontokozo Zulu added more details in support of her deputy chairperson, adamantly saying, “We donated these sanitary products to show love and care to our future leaders. As an organisation we are also appealing to people to sponsor us with more items so we can go to other schools.”

She was followed by the Secretary (Semakeleng Mathibela) of the organisation who said, “Our long term goals as an organisation is to tackle the social ills, especially GBV and child abuse, those are two main issues that are spreading uncontrollably in our communities. Our primary purpose is to help-out people who are desperately in need and we want to spread our love to other areas in Ekurhuleni. We are appealing for sponsorship and funding.
