On Thursday 23 February 2023 at 15:00, the members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct, arrested two (2) African males, aged between 37 and 41 years, for possession of suspected stolen goods and motor vehicle.

As officers were busy conducting their duties, they were approached by an Ethiopian male victim who claims that he was robbed at gunpoint by three (3) African males, who hijacked his vehicle that contained stock for his tuck shop, at his place of business on the corner of Nabe ya lewatle and Letsa Street in Zenzele, Mayfield.

The victim gave the officers the description of the suspects and the description of his motor vehicle.
The officers followed up on the information and spotted a silver Toyota Hilux VVT1 matching the description given, in a field on Turton Street in Daveyton. When the vehicle was approached, the suspects fled the scene and after a short chase, the officers captured one (1) suspect.

The hijacked vehicle, along with the tuck shop stock worth an estimated thirteen thousand Rand R13 000.00, was recovered. The suspect 41-year-old suspect, who was interrogated by the officers, pointed out the other suspect a 37-year-old on Sihoko Street.

Both suspects were arrested and detained at Putfontein police station, charged with possession of suspected stolen goods and motor vehicle, and the vehicle was taken to Van Ryn Deep SAPS pound, for safekeeping.

The third suspect is still at large; however, an arrest is imminent. The duo will appear at the Daveyton Magistrates Court soon.
