On Monday, 15 January 2024, at 15h00, officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct recovered a white Toyota Quantum minibus that had been reported as robbed or hijacked.
The minibus was found abandoned in the Daveyton area.
The EMPD officers received information from a reliable source about a suspicious white minibus parked in the middle of the road. Responding to the tip, officers, along with assistance from a well-known private vehicle tracking company, located the Quantum abandoned at the corner of Gumbi and Mockie.
The Toyota was tested, and the report revealed that it had been robbed or hijacked in the Garankua area. Law enforcers also noted that the registration plates displayed were false.
Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), including the fingerprints section, were called in before the recovered minibus was towed to the police station for safekeeping.
