Tembisa hospital welcomes new CEO

The Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital has welcomed the appointment of Dr Ashley Vusi Mthunzi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the next five (5) years.

Mthunzi’s appointment was announced by the Gauteng Department of Health MEC Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi on (Thursday) 15th of July 2021.

The 43-year-old joins Tembisa hospital after leading Pholosong Regional Hospital in Brakpan from November 2019 up until April 2021. He has acted as the Far East Rand hospital CEO for a short spell before taking over the reins at Tembisa Hospital from April this year.

The acting Clinical Director Dr Mohlamme Mathabathe and Corporate Services Manager Lina Mmatli at Tembisa Hospital are pleased with Mthunzi’s appointment and they are hopeful he will steer the Hospital to greater heights.

“We are looking forward to working with him in ensuring that the hospital continues to deliver quality health services to the community of Tembisa,” said Mathabathe.

“Dr Mthunzi’s appointment gives us great pleasure and it will bring stability to our institution. We have pledged our full support to him in his endeavours to take our hospital forward,” says Mmatli. Mthunzi said this is a new dawn for the institution and it will propel it to go back to its basics.

“I’m cautiously excited with the appointment. I am looking at the new dawn of Tembisa hospital which is patient-centric. Tembisa must become the best hospital and employer of choice. We will ensure that the highest quality of care is delivered.

“We are not novices in hospital management, we have been doing it for a while, and we just need to ensure that we work as a team. I’m looking forward to work with the executive, board, organised- labour and every staff member,” states Mthunzi.

Mthunzi is the successor of Dr Lekopane Mogaladi.
