At just 15-years-old, Phetogo Otlile Mamogale from Tembisa is making her mark in the modeling world with passion and determination. Her journey started in 2022 when she entered her first beauty pageant, a dream she had since she was a child.
“Modeling has always been something I loved since I was young,” says Phetogo. “It’s something I always wanted to do.”
Starting out wasn’t easy. “The first time I tried modeling, it was hard,” she admits. But with support from her family and friends, things got better, and her efforts paid off when she was crowned Queen—an achievement she’ll never forget.
Phetogo approaches modeling with curiosity and a desire to grow. She’s excited to work with different designers and photographers to gain more experience and learn from others in the industry. “I enjoy fittings, meeting other models and directors, and practicing my walk. It’s all part of the process,” she says.
Even as a young model, Phetogo has faced stereotypes about her body type and age. Instead of letting these hold her back, she focuses on her strengths. “The industry has improved, but there’s still a lot that needs to change,” she reflects.
Phetogo is also passionate about sustainable fashion. She loves mixing vintage pieces with modern ones to create unique styles. “I care about eco-friendly materials and want to work with brands that support sustainability,” she explains.
Outside of modeling, Phetogo is committed to using her platform to address important issues like gender-based violence and men’s mental health. “I want to make a difference,” she says.
Her daily routine shows her commitment to personal growth and well-being. She prioritizes self-care, eats a balanced diet, and exercises regularly. She also enjoys reading and spending time with loved ones.
When asked for advice, Phetogo encourages aspiring models to stay true to themselves. “Focus on being yourself and keeping your mental health strong,” she advises.
Although she’s thought about exploring other career paths in the future, right now, her focus is on building a modeling career that inspires and uplifts others. “People might be surprised to know I’m a fast reader,” she says with a smile.
Phetogo’s journey is a story of hard work, resilience, and a desire to make a positive impact. She’s not just a rising star in modeling but also an inspiration to young people everywhere.
