The EMPD arrested a trio in possession of stolen goods

On Tuesday 22 November 2022 at about 08h00, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Tracing Unit officers arrested three African male suspects 47, 67 and 70, for possession of suspected stolen goods and stock theft.

The EMPD Tracing unit officers received information from the South African Police Services (SAPS) Crime Intelligence Unit that, there are reports of suspected concealed stolen goods, at a certain house on Sabatha Street, in the Daveyton area by the Chris Hani Extension 3 and the EMPD officers, proceeded to the said address. On arrival, three (3) males, were found in the process of peeling off, skin goat carcases, in the back room of the residence.

As officers further inspected, a total of nine (9) goats and one (1) goat head were found on the premises. The suspects were interrogated about where the goats came from and there was no clear explanation. As the interrogation continued, the three (3) suspects alleged that the goats were stolen by two (2) other males, in the Springs area, who were not present on-site. The trio, further alleged that the two (2) unidentified males, took one (1) goat and left. The estimated value of the suspected stolen goats is R40 000.

The trio, who was immediately arrested and detained at Daveyton police station, will soon appear at the Daveyton Magistrate Court. Investigations are still ongoing, and the two unknown males will be brought to book.
