On Saturday 12 October 2024 from 09:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police
Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit and CLU officers responded to a cash in transit in progress in
the Kwa-Thema area.
The EMPD Officers received information about a cash in transit in progress at Vlakfontein Road in
Kwa-Thema on arrival they found vehicles burning and a lot of community members busy looting
the cash from the cash in transit vehicle.
The suspects could not be found with some money.
The EMPD would like to urge the community to please refrain from being caught in such crime
scense, as they are also committing a crime by looting the money. They are also endangering
themselves as these situations are violent in nature.
