On Saturday 19 October 2024 from 08:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police
Department (EMPD) Eastern Region Task Team officers arrested three male suspects aged between
34 and 35 years old for theft of a motor vehicle in KwaThema.
The officers received information about a stolen motor vehicle. The information was followed up on
and the vehicle was corned at Kotobe Street with occupants inside. The three men tried to flee but
were corned and arrested.
On Saturday at about 02:30 an e-hailing driver was requested by customers for a trip to Nkabinde
Street Daveyton. The customers jumped off the vehicle and ran away without paying. As the driver
chased them, he left the vehicle idling and the vehicle was stolen. All the suspects were arrested and detained at the Kwa- Thema Police Station.
The men will soon appear before the KwaThema Magistrate Court for car theft.
