On the 26th of April 2025, Tsakane Mall hosted Easter Junior Chef Competition, where cooking enthusiasts/participants of ages between 10-12 could be discovered.
The initiative was implemented with the mandate to groom the young ones whilst they are still in school, but still have the liberty to do what they love.
The winners of the competition stood a chance to win a share of R10, 000, where the funds were to be used towards their school fees or school essentials/supplies.
The judges of the competition focused on the following criteria to choose their winner: Taste, presentation, and creativity.
The competition had three winners; first place was taken by Kgothaso Kola, who prepared a delicious desert of Peppermint Crisp tart, and scored a first price based on the requirements of the judges. In second place was Kekaone Ramotsietsana, and third place, Anele Ngubeni.
This event helped the young ones to know that there are different career streams once they done with high school, and how hospitality and consumer studies also has a lot of different opportunities, although it’s often overlooked.
In conclusion the event was catered for Tsakane people, and everyone who took part had their share of fun.
