Two youth aged in their early twenties died after drowning in Natalspruit river near Zonkizizwe section, Katlehong in the city of Ekurhuleni.
Two males were declared dead by paramedics after being retrieved from the water stream this afternoon. Apparently, they came to perform cultural rituals at the river. As the entire entourage was busy with rituals, the three of them jumped into the water to swim.
Unfortunately, two of them drowned and one managed to swim out. A rescue team from the local Zonkizizwe fire station in collaboration with SAPS water-wing, managed to retrieve the two out of the water and unfortunately, there weren’t any signs of life on both. Paramedics declared both dead on the scene.
The case is under SAPS officer’s investigation.
