Committee of Pharoe Park, Delville and Airport Park complexes, made up of Thembi Rachuene, Dali Kwana, Khangelwa Ningiza, Asanda Msikiza, Frieda De Breeze and Winnie Serakalala, went to the Mayor’s sitting on the 27th March of 2025, and sent the memorandum of urgent assistance from the mayor as the head, since they were under a serious attack from those who were supposed, by law, to protect them. While they were still there, Thembi said, at about 15:02, the Ekurhuleni Housing Company Securities came at Delville, carrying guns. That’s when they ran to the MEC’s office, but they didn’t find him.
“We then saw the mayor’s advisor, and we approached him to ask him where is he expecting us to run to as a community since we are neither assisted by him, the police or the EMPD.”
To my surprise, Thembi continues, around 20:20 in the evening, securities were back with police officers and started shooting, harassing people, breaking in, making deadly threats and traumatizing my kids!
“My kids told me they were looking for me. They believe we, as a committee, caused all the havoc. They harassed my kids as they were sleeping, opening the blanket while there’s a six months baby in the room. Lighting a torch and guns pointing at them. My 21-year old daughter wanted to open a case, but figured it was futile because we don’t get help anyway; they are all in cahoots.”
The committee is currently on the run, jumped their fences to save their lives.
All they wanted to know was why did the CEO close electricity and water for them, because with the late CEO, Bongani Molefe, they marched to the municipality office customer service to beseech with the city to continue paying for the services as it is prepaid, including those of cleaning and security for safety purposes.
Thembi continued to state that six people were aimlessly arrested on the day including William Masinga, one of the community member, was tortured, taken from the toilet without dressing his trouser and forced to climb the stairs barefoot.
Among the arrested, three of them were kids.
The CEO, Sindisani Kamana, mentioned how adamant he is of killing Thembi. According to Thembi, he went as far as saying he’ll hire a security guard to follow her even on her workplace, in exchange for money. What hurts Thembi the most with the whole ordeal, is how everything is unfolding with their councillor, Jean Ingramf, ward 39, is just doing nothing like someone who’s not even aware. Pictures were sent, videos and messages of what was and is happening.
We are currently waiting to hear the side of the story from the relevant stakeholders.
