Vosloorus making the rounds

There will be a hive of activity when Promeck Sports Development hosts the Under-15 soccer challenge, at Vosloorus ground D, during April school holidays, commencing from the 31st of March to the 4th of April 2025. The development tournament aims to get the youth of the streets and stimulate them to focus on sports activities in order not to be consumed by crime and substance abuse.

The tournament provides the young ones with the best platform to display their skills with high expectations that talent scouts and top development coaches will come through to identify new talent for their respective teams. The vision of the non-profit organisation is to play a leading role in the development of sports in Vosloorus, if not the entire Ekurhuleni, especially amongst underprivileged communities. The organization was founded with a clear mission to provide promising junior players an opportunity to develop their skills and achieve the success they deserve through the development programme. It is the brainchild of former Sowetan sports journalist, Meshack Khotha, who was born and bred in Katlehong and later moved to Vosloorus.

He was passionate about soccer and he contributed a lot to the development of sports in the country. He believes the future of a country lies in a solid foundation to developing and nurturing new talent at grassroots level. He told Ekurhuleni News that he is determined to give his expertise in football development back to disadvantaged community by creating more platforms where all aspiring young players will get an opportunity to showcase their football skills.

The organization is dedicated to create a sustainable development programme that will truly benefit the emerging young players who are interested in progressing their basic skills through community games. The tournament is sponsored by Clinix Botshelong- Empilweni private hospital in Vosloorus.

“I am proud to announce our partnership with Promeck Sports Development for the upcoming soccer tournament in April. As a dedicated healthcare provider in Vosloorus, we are committed to supporting our community through initiatives like this, which align with our corporate,” said Kubashnee Naidoo, the hospital Manager. ‘Wishing the tournament all the success,” she added.

All development teams from Vosloorus and surrounding areas are expected to come in numbers and battle it out for top prizes for grabs. All teams will be required to produce MySafa card before the start of the game. The winner will go home with a soccer kit, trophy and 15 gold medals while runners-up gets a ball, bibs (10), 15 silver medals, 10 flat marking cones, a ball for a third prize, 15 Bronze medals and 10 flat marking cones. Affiliation fee is R350.00 per team. The closing date is on the 26th of March 2025, date for the draw is on the 28th of March 2025 at Vosloorus tennis court; opposite Vosloorus stadium.
