After the long wait for the matric results in 2023, Windmill Park Secondary School in Windmill Park is celebrating an 81.1% pass rate.
Mr Mokgwatsana, the school’s principal, expressed his excitement, noting a significant improvement in the matric results compared to the 2022 academic year.
“We’re really excited about these results. Although we aimed for 95% and above, we’re still happy with what we achieved. It shows there’s room for improvement, and our ultimate goal is 100%. We’re grateful to Almighty God for sustaining us throughout the challenging 2023 academic year,” he said.
Mr Mokgwatsana acknowledged the hard work of both the learners and teachers, emphasizing their dedication throughout the year.
One of the top achievers, Nompumelelo Simelane, a science learner, shared her joy, saying, “I’m happy with my results. I made sure to study every day and took advantage of the help I received from my teachers at school.”
She added that dedication and support are key to success, emphasizing that with the right mindset and assistance, anyone can achieve their goals.
Queen Matladi, the second top achiever, shared her study method, saying, “I feel content with my results. I envisioned success at the beginning of the year, and that helped me work hard towards it. I found a study method that worked for me—studying every day after school.”
Matladi expressed gratitude to the principal and the school’s support system, highlighting the role of various individuals in her academic journey.
Proud teacher Mabuya Bongani, who achieved a 98.4% pass rate in Physical Sciences, commended the class of 2023 for exceeding expectations. He emphasized the importance of dedication, utilizing available resources optimally, and conducting extra classes to achieve great results.
Mabuya advised future learners to make use of exam guidelines, expose themselves to past question papers, and use experiments as learning aids to enhance understanding and engagement with the content. He expressed confidence that dedication and hard work will lead to success.
