Dineo Nzuza, a 9-year-old rising young athlete from Daveyton and a member of East Athletics Club, has made her mark at the recent Central Gauteng Athletics Championships, proudly flying the flag in the Girls Under-9 2km race. The talented youngster showed great determination and skill as she powered through the distance, earning her a well-deserved spot on the Gauteng team.
Her impressive performance means she will now go on to represent the province at the Athletics South Africa Championships 2025, scheduled to take place in Mpumalanga on the 6th of September. Coaches and spectators alike have praised Dineo for her dedication, discipline, and natural talent.
“She’s a star in the making,” said a representative from East Athletics Club. “We’re incredibly proud of her and know she’ll do Gauteng proud.”
Her mother, Phindi Nzuza, shared her pride and commitment: “I support her everyday journey. I take her to the gym and training every day, I’m present at her school athletics activities. She attends all the cross country leagues, sub-youth track and field events, and road races.”
As she prepares for the national stage, all eyes will be on this promising young athlete. The community and her club are rallying behind her with support and encouragement.
