Tshegofatso Fenyane, a Grade 7 learner from George Mbilase Primary School, is proving that hard work, passion, and support can shape a bright future. As a proud beneficiary of Bacha Ba Dichaba, she is applying for the SANRAL scholarship and hopes to use it to achieve her academic and career dreams.
“I know how important well-maintained roads and infrastructure are for economic growth and for helping communities,” Tshegofatso said. “I believe I have the potential to make a difference and be valuable not just locally, but internationally.”
Her confidence shines through as she speaks about her school performance and future goals. Tshegofatso is one of the top-performing learners at her school and is passionate about science and mathematics, key subjects for the SANRAL scholarship.
“I won’t lie, I always give my best. I’m the overall top student at my school. I’ve consistently done well in subjects like maths and science,” she said proudly. “I’ve received awards for my hard work and problem-solving skills.”
She is currently involved in the Eskom Expo project and has already made it to the next round at district level. She says these experiences have helped her grow academically and personally.
“I’ve developed strong communication skills through presentations and group work. I’m always learning and pushing myself,” she added.
Understanding the value of the SANRAL scholarship, Tshegofatso explained that the opportunity will help her focus on her studies and develop the skills she needs for her dream career.
“SANRAL helps build and maintain South Africa’s national roads. They offer scholarships to learners who do well in science and maths. This scholarship will help me gain the knowledge and experience I need to follow my dreams,” she said.
While she dreams big, Tshegofatso never forgets the people who support her every day.
“I don’t want to lie, my mom is my superhero. Her support and guidance motivate me to be better. I’m also grateful to my teachers and my principal Mrs Mokwena for believing in me,” she said.
Her career goals are inspiring. She wants to become a diving medical physician and a physicist, two fields that require discipline and passion.
“A diving medical physician is a doctor who treats diving-related illnesses, and a physicist studies how the universe works, like energy and matter,” she explained. “This scholarship will help me reach those goals and change my life.”
Bacha Ba Dichaba’s CEO shared how proud the organization is of Tshegofatso and her progress as a learner and reading champion.
“We’re proud of Tshegofatso’s dedication to her studies and her dreams. Our goal is to help 10 percent of our learners unlock their full potential in the next five months, and Tshegofatso is a shining example of that,” the CEO said. “We truly hope she receives this scholarship. She deserves it.”
For Tshegofatso, the scholarship is not just about her own future. She wants to inspire others too.
“With this scholarship, I can access a better education, achieve my dreams, and become a role model for my little sisters and other learners in my community.”
