In a move that’s set to redefine street food in South Africa, Zile Foods has unveiled its latest innovation—the Garlic Bread Kota, a delicious twist on the beloved township classic. Known for their game-changing Guac Kota, the culinary trailblazers have once again pushed boundaries, this time replacing the traditional kota bread with rich, buttery garlic bread—packed with their signature fillings.
The inspiration? A heartwarming moment with loyal customer Mpho “Quarter to Four” Mokoena and his grandmother, who couldn’t get enough of Zile’s weekend-only garlic rolls. “We wanted to bring that same garlic magic to our kotas every day,” says the founder. The result? Two mouth-watering pilot options: the Beef & Russian Kota and the Rib & Russian Kota, both already causing a stir in the community.
The buzz has been undeniable. In a neighbourhood where food innovation is still growing, Zile Foods continues to lead the charge, proving once again that they don’t just serve meals—they craft unforgettable experiences. “This isn’t just food; it’s something bold, fresh, and uniquely ours,” says the owner.
With the Garlic Bread Kota, Zile Foods cements its reputation as the king of township flavour innovation—where they go, others follow.
