The Siyakha Youth Foundation Public Speaking Camp, held at the University of Pretoria’s Mamelodi Campus from September 23-26, 2025, was a huge success, with 200 learners from across Gauteng Province participating. The camp saw 200 learners from various schools representing their Region’s, including George Mbilase Primary School, Caiphus Nyoka Secondary, Phakamane Secondary, Hulwazi Secondary, Unity Secondary, and Phandimfundo Secondary (All from Ekurhuleni Region)
According to Bacha Ba Dichaba, the camp was a resounding success, with learners benefiting from the opportunity to hone their public speaking skills. “We’re thrilled with the outcome of the camp,” said Thabang Lichaba, founder of Bacha Ba Dichaba. “The learners showed remarkable growth and confidence in their public speaking abilities. We’re proud of their progress and look forward to seeing them shine in future competitions.”
The camp was made possible through the invitation and support of Siyakha Youth Foundation, the University of Pretoria, Tshiamiso Astronauts, and the Department of Gauteng Provincial Library Information Services (GPLIS), which funded the event. Bacha Ba Dichaba expressed gratitude to these organizations for their support.
Looking ahead, Bacha Ba Dichaba and Siyakha Youth Foundation will be heading to Qwaqwa for the national spelling bee competition, where 30 learners will represent their province. While transportation has been covered by 100% Foundation, donations are still needed for accommodation and catering.
“We’re excited to take our learners to the national stage, and we’re grateful for the support we’ve received so far,” said Siphiwe Hlangoti founder of Siyakha Youth Foundation, founder of Siyakha Youth Foundation. “However, we still need help with accommodation and catering costs. We appeal to well-wishers to consider donating to support our cause.”

With the support of donours and partners, Bacha Ba Dichaba and Siyakha Youth Foundation are confident that their learners will excel in the national spelling bee competition and beyond.
