Revival Academy Celebrates Young Learners and the Power of Partnership

By Ncamiso Dlamini

The atmosphere was filled with joy and pride at Revival Academy’s recent awards night, a celebration that highlighted the incredible growth of its youngest students. The event was more than just a ceremony; it was a vibrant reflection of the school’s core mission. Thozama Mbatha, the Principal of Revival Academy, explained that the school’s goal is to lay a solid foundation for every child. “The awards night was about motivating and appreciating our kids,” she said, emphasizing that the evening was a testament to their collective journey. In a heartfelt decision that captures the spirit of early childhood development, every learner received an award. Principal Mbatha shared the school’s nurturing philosophy, stating, “We can’t select because they are still young, and our aim is to encourage and motivate them.”

The celebration went beyond academic milestones to honour the children’s personal achievements and the vital role of their families. Ms. Mbatha described the relationship between the school, parents, and children as a essential triangle. “The achievements combined us all,” she noted, explaining why a special appreciation segment for parents and caregivers was so important. “The parents are playing a big role towards our kids thriving; they are working hand in hand with us.” This powerful partnership was visible in the beaming faces across the room. “It was so good to see those happy faces,” the Principal recalled, “and our parents were over the moon.”

The name “Revival Academy” itself carries a deep meaning. For Principal Mbatha, it represents a mission to revitalize the approach to early learning. “My aim is to revive ECD centres to take their work seriously because we’re the ones that lay a solid foundation,” she explained. This foundation is the crucial first step before children move on to bigger schools. Seeing the tangible progress in the learners is the most rewarding part of the work for the educators at Revival. “They are growing everyday,” Ms. Mbatha observed. “We are seeing the difference between that time they joined us and now; they are intelligent.”

Looking to the future, Principal Mbatha’s biggest hope is simple yet profound: for these children to become better people. Her message to parents is a continuation of the school’s partnership model: to support, love, and, most importantly, listen to their kids. The success of the awards night and the visible growth of the students confirm that Revival Academy is on the right path, faithfully building the strong foundations that will help its learners walk confidently into the future.
